LA LITANIE DES CIMES
& KIRKE KARJA

At the origin of this project lies a meeting between Kirke Karja, a leading figure of the new European free jazz scene, and La Litanie des Cimes at the Jazzkaar in Tallinn. Sharing the stage, they invited each other to play together — a moment of exchange where the chemistry was immediate.

From this encounter emerged the idea of a shared repertoire, blending Baltic influences and Kirke Karja’s avant-garde language (between free jazz and 20th-century music) with the woody textures and hypnotic, repetitive patterns of La Litanie des Cimes, themselves nourished by popular and contemporary influences.

In this new quartet, free improvisation and the search for new textures intertwine. Patterns evolve through repetition, and musical dialogues intensify, driven by a vibrant energy and a refined melodic sensibility.
